# Memory

The Memory page is where you review and manage everything your assistant has remembered. As people chat with the assistant, it quietly saves short notes — about who they are, the projects they're working on, the way they like things done, and details about your company. This page lists those saved notes so you can read them, search them, correct them, or remove ones that are out of date or shouldn't have been kept. The page header reads "Review and manage memories your assistant extracted about users, projects, preferences, and company context."

## What's on this page

### Header

At the top you'll see the title **Memory** and its description. If you don't have permission to make changes, a read-only notice appears: **Missing data:settings:write permission**. You can still read every memory; the buttons that change them are switched off.

### Memory summary stats

A row of four small stat cards sits near the top:

- **Total** — the number of saved memories across every page. The label underneath reads **Saved memories**.
- **This page** — how many memories are showing right now, after any search. The label reads **Matching memories**.
- **Sensitive** — how many of the memories on this page are flagged as needing care. The label reads **Requires care**.
- **Current** — the date the most recent memory on this page was last saved. The label reads **Last saved**. If there's nothing to show, this reads "None."

### Search memories

Below the stats is a single text box labelled **Search memories** with the placeholder **Search summary or memory text**. Type a word or phrase and the list narrows to memories whose summary or full text matches. To the right is the **New memory** button, which opens a blank form to add a memory by hand. The button is switched off if you don't have edit permission.

### The memory list

The left side shows your memories one per row. There's no grouping by type or category — every memory is listed together, and searching is how you narrow things down. Each row is a button you can click, and it shows:

- **Summary or text** — the memory's short summary as the main label. If there's no summary, the start of the memory text is shown instead.
- **Type** — a smaller label beneath, showing the memory's type (for example, "preference").
- **Updated date** — a small date pill on the right showing when the memory was last saved.

Click any row to open its full detail on the right.

### Memory detail

The right side shows the memory you've selected:

- **Title** — the memory's summary. If the memory has no summary, this reads **Untitled memory**.
- **Subtitle** — an identifier for the memory.
- **Full text** — the complete memory.
- **Details list** — three facts: **Sensitivity**, **Type**, and **Updated** date.
- **Edit** and **Delete** buttons — both switched off if you don't have edit permission.
- **Sensitive note** — if the memory is flagged as highly sensitive, a line reads, below the buttons, **This memory contains redacted sensitive material.**

### Pagination

At the very bottom are page controls. Memories are shown 25 per page; use these to move between pages when you have more than fit on one.

### Status messages

After you add, change, or remove a memory, a short message appears at the bottom — for example, **Memory created.**, **Memory updated.**, or **Memory deleted.** Error messages appear here too if something didn't save.

## Common things you can do here

### Add a memory by hand

Click **New memory** in the search row. A form opens where you can write the memory text, a short summary, and a type. A **Back to memories** link at the top of the form returns you to the list. See [Memory Editor](memory-editor.md) for the full walkthrough.

### Read a memory in full

Click any row in the list. The full text and its details (sensitivity, type, last-updated date) appear on the right.

### Find a specific memory

Type into the **Search memories** box. The list filters to memories whose summary or text matches what you typed, and the **This page** stat updates to show how many matched. Searching always returns you to the first page of results.

### Edit a memory

Select the memory, then click **Edit** on the detail panel. The editor opens with the existing text, summary, and type ready to change. See [Memory Editor](memory-editor.md).

### Delete a memory

Select the memory, then click **Delete**. A confirmation dialog titled **Delete Memory** appears, warning: "This permanently removes the memory and its search index entry." Confirm to remove it for good. While it's removing, the button reads **Deleting**.

## Tips

- **The list refreshes on its own.** New memories the assistant saves appear here automatically. Refreshing pauses while you have the editor open or while a save or delete is in progress, so your work isn't interrupted.
- **The "This page" count reflects your search.** The **Total** stat counts every saved memory; **This page** counts only what's matching and visible right now.
- **Sensitive memories are flagged, not hidden.** A memory marked highly sensitive shows the note "This memory contains redacted sensitive material." in its detail panel so you know to handle it with care.
- **Deleting is permanent.** Removing a memory also removes it from the assistant's search index, so the assistant will no longer be able to recall it.
- **Memories aren't sorted into folders.** Everything lives in one list. Use search rather than looking for a category or type grouping.

## Troubleshooting

- **The list says "Loading memories..." and nothing appears?** The page is still fetching. Give it a moment; if it doesn't finish, check for an error message at the bottom of the page.
- **The list says "No memories match this view."?** Either no memories have been saved yet, or your search is too narrow. Clear the **Search memories** box to see everything again.
- **The detail panel says "Select a memory."?** Nothing is selected yet. Click a row in the list on the left to open it.
- **The New memory, Edit, or Delete buttons are switched off?** You don't have the permission needed to change memories (data:settings:write). The read-only notice "Missing data:settings:write permission" confirms this. Ask an admin for edit access.
- **A memory I deleted is still showing?** Watch for the **Memory deleted.** confirmation at the bottom. If you saw an error message instead, the delete didn't complete — try again.
- **I can't find a memory I know exists?** It may be on another page — check the page controls at the bottom — or your search terms may not match its summary or text. Clear the search and browse the full list.
