Developer and Marketplace Terms

These Developer and Marketplace Terms apply when you build, package, upload, or submit an extension, theme, template, or other add-on for Cedros (an "Extension"), and when you use the Cedros authoring guides, kits, and checking tools. They supplement the Terms of Service, including Section 27; capitalized words have the meaning given there. For these matters, these terms control over the general Terms where they differ.

These terms are about building for Cedros. The Developer pricing plan is a subscription and is governed by the Terms of Service.

1. How Extensions reach a site today

There are two ways an Extension is installed on a Cedros site:

Private installation. A site operator uploads an Extension package to their own site, where the host allows package uploads. The operator decides whether to install it and which permissions to grant.
The Cedros catalog. Site operators can browse and install Extensions from a catalog that Cedros maintains. Cedros decides what is listed. There is no self-service publishing to the catalog; to propose an Extension for listing, contact [email protected].

Cedros does not currently operate paid listings, a revenue share, or developer payouts. Any paid arrangement requires a separate written agreement.

2. Developer materials

Cedros gives you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable permission to use its authoring guides, kits, examples, and checking tools to build and test Extensions for Cedros. Open-source or source-available components are governed by their own licenses. Interfaces can change, and Cedros is in beta; see the Service Level Agreement.

A checking tool's result is a diagnostic. It is not a review, a certification, or an approval by Cedros.

3. Your Extension

You keep ownership of your Extension. You are responsible for it, including its code, its dependencies, its content, and the support you offer for it.

You confirm that:

you have the rights needed to distribute everything in the package, and you comply with the licenses of any third-party or open-source components;
the Extension does not infringe anyone's rights or violate the law; and
the information you provide about the Extension is accurate.

4. Technical and security requirements

Your Extension must:

declare accurately in its manifest every permission, capability, and outbound network destination it uses, and request only what it needs to do what it says it does;
work within the platform's sandbox and resource limits, and not attempt to bypass permissions, isolation, metering, or review;
contain no malware, hidden functionality, remote code loading that changes its behavior after review, cryptocurrency mining, or undisclosed tracking;
protect any credentials and data it handles, and not log secrets; and
identify its publisher and version truthfully.

Trust and verification labels shown to site operators are determined by Cedros or by the site operator. You may supply supporting evidence, but you may not describe an Extension as verified, reviewed, approved, or official unless Cedros has said so in writing.

5. Data your Extension can access

An Extension can access site data only within the permissions a site operator grants. For that data you must:

use it only to provide the Extension's disclosed functionality to that site;
not sell it, and not use it for advertising, profiling, or training generalized AI models;
send it outside the site only to destinations you have declared, and only as needed for the disclosed functionality;
keep it no longer than necessary, and delete it when the site operator asks or removes the Extension, unless the law requires you to keep it;
tell site operators clearly what data the Extension collects, where it goes, and which other providers receive it; and
notify affected site operators and [email protected] without undue delay if you learn of a security incident involving that data.

When your Extension handles personal information for a site operator, you act on that operator's behalf and must agree to any data-processing terms the law requires. Cedros's no-sale commitment describes what Cedros does; it does not extend to a third party's Extension, which is why these obligations apply to you directly.

6. Submitting an Extension to Cedros

If you submit an Extension for the catalog, you grant Cedros a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, scan, test, display, and distribute it to Cedros sites, and to use its name, description, and images to list it. This license lasts while the Extension is listed and for as long as reasonably needed afterward to let sites that already installed it keep running it and to keep security and audit records.

Cedros may review an Extension before or after listing, require changes, decline to list it, or remove it. A listing is not an endorsement or a warranty by Cedros. Cedros has no obligation to list any Extension.

You will keep a listed Extension maintained, provide a working support contact, and tell Cedros promptly about any security vulnerability you learn of.

7. Private packages

If you upload a private package to a site, or build one for a client, you and the site operator are responsible for it. Make sure the operator understands what it does and what it can access. Do not keep access to a client's site, data, or credentials after your authority ends.

8. Your terms with site operators

You may offer your Extension under your own license and support terms, as long as they do not conflict with these terms or the Terms of Service and do not make Cedros a party. Any arrangement between you and a site operator, including payment, is between the two of you.

9. Removal and disabling

Cedros may disable, remove, or block an Extension, or revoke its listing, where it reasonably believes the Extension creates a security, legal, reliability, or abuse risk, or violates these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. Where reasonably practicable we will tell you why and give you the chance to fix it; we may act first where the risk is serious. You can ask for review through Report Abuse.

You may withdraw an Extension from the catalog at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal stops new installs; it does not remove copies already installed on sites.

10. Names and branding

You may state accurately that your Extension works with Cedros. You may not use Cedros's name or marks in a way that suggests the Extension is made, endorsed, or supported by Cedros, or name an Extension so that it could be confused with one published by Cedros.

11. Feedback and independent development

Section 35 of the Terms applies to feedback you give. Cedros may build features similar to your Extension, provided it does not use your confidential information or copy your code to do so.

12. No compensation and no partnership

Nothing in these terms entitles you to payment from Cedros or creates an employment, agency, partnership, or franchise relationship. Participation in the programs is separate.

13. Responsibility

The disclaimers, indemnification, and limitation-of-liability provisions of the Terms of Service apply. You are responsible for claims that arise from your Extension, including claims that it infringes someone's rights, mishandles data, or causes harm to a site, to the extent they are not caused by Cedros.
