Resetting your password and recovering access

Reset a forgotten password, fix missing emails or unusable links, and find the right recovery path for lost sign-in methods or admin access.

Use this guide when you have forgotten your password, cannot use a reset link, or have lost a sign-in method. The steps below explain how to reset your Cedros account password and recover access when you cannot use your mailbox, authenticator, passkey, or Google or Apple account. Resetting your Cedros password does not change your email provider’s password.

For ordinary sign-in instructions and the difference between customer and admin access, see Creating an account and signing in.

Choose the right recovery path

Start on the site where your account exists. Resetting your account on cedros.ai does not automatically reset a separate account on another Cedros-powered site.

  • Forgotten Cedros password, with access to your inbox: request a reset link, then set a new password.
  • No reset message or a rejected link: use the missing-email checks or link troubleshooting.
  • Password works, but you cannot complete two-factor authentication: use a saved recovery code as described under lost sign-in methods.
  • Cannot access the account's mailbox: use another sign-in method already connected to the account, or begin recovery with your email provider.
  • Can sign in, but cannot open an admin tool or paid content: ask the site owner to check your permissions or membership. A password reset does not grant additional access.

If you are still signed in on a trusted device, keep that session available while you identify a recovery path. Do not sign out everywhere or remove a working sign-in method just to test whether you can get back in. A completed password reset will require you to sign in again.

You need the email address on the account and access to the mailbox that receives its reset messages. Use this flow for an account that supports an email password. If you normally use a provider or passkey and have never set a password, start with that sign-in method.

  1. Open the correct site's sign-in page. For your account on cedros.ai, open Sign in.
  2. On the email sign-in form, choose Forgot your password?.
  3. Enter your account address in Email address. Check spelling and the domain, especially if you use both a personal and a work address.
  4. Choose Send reset link once and wait for the response.
  5. When Check your email appears, open that mailbox and look for the password reset message.

For a cedros.ai account, you can also open the password recovery page directly.

The confirmation is deliberately generic: it does not reveal whether an address has an eligible account. Seeing Check your email means the request finished; it does not confirm that a message reached your inbox or that the address is registered.

If the form reports an error, follow that message instead. For a rate-limit message, wait for the indicated period before trying again. Repeated requests can delay your progress and make it harder to identify the message you need.

Set a new password and sign back in

Open the reset link from the email you requested. Check that it leads to the site whose account you are recovering.

  1. On Reset your password, enter a unique password in New password. Select the field to see the password requirements, and use a password manager to generate and save it if you have one.
  2. Enter the same value in Confirm Password.
  3. Choose Reset password and wait for the result.
  4. Look for Password reset successful, then choose Go to login.
  5. Sign in with the account email and the new password. Complete any further verification the site requests.

A successful password reset revokes the account's existing sessions. Be prepared to sign in again on other devices. The reset link is single-use: after a successful reset, return to the normal sign-in page instead of opening that link again.

Check the result: sign in using the new password and open the account or page you expected. Update the saved password for the correct site in your password manager. If the account opens but your admin tools, membership, or content are missing, investigate access permissions rather than resetting the password again.

A password reset is not a substitute for two-factor verification. If a code is still requested, use your authenticator or an unused recovery code.

If the reset email does not arrive

Work through these checks before sending several more requests:

  1. Confirm the site and account address. Use the address you registered or normally sign in with. Another site's account, a typo, or a different provider account may explain the missing message.
  2. Check the right mailbox. Search recent messages and look in spam or junk. If messages are forwarded, check the original mailbox too, where you can.
  3. Check work-email filtering. Your organization's quarantine or mail administrator may be holding the message. Ask them to check delivery without sharing a reset link.
  4. Confirm the sign-in method. A Google-, Apple-, wallet-, or passkey-only account may not have an email password to reset. Try its existing sign-in method.
  5. Make one fresh request after checking the details. Return to the sign-in page and use Forgot your password?. Wait for the response and check the newest message you requested.
  6. Ask for help if it still does not arrive. Give the site owner or support the site address, approximate request time and timezone, sign-in method, and whether the form showed a confirmation or an error.

The site must be able to send account email for this recovery path to work. If messages are not being delivered, ask the site administrator to follow Setting up outgoing email delivery for the account-notification sending path. A successful request screen alone cannot establish that delivery is working.

If you no longer control the mailbox, sending more links to it will not restore access. Use the lost-method guidance below.

Reset links are time-limited and can only complete one reset. If you already saw the success message, try signing in with the new password.

Otherwise, choose Request a new reset link if that button appears, or return to Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. Open the newest message you requested and finish the reset promptly. Do not alternate between several old messages.

Opening the reset page by typing its address is not enough; it needs the complete link from the email. If the message appears after you reload or revisit the page, reopen the full link from the newest reset email.

If the complete link still fails, choose Request a new link and start again. Do not edit the link, post it in a support message, or send it to someone else to test.

The Reset password button stays disabled

Enter a new password that meets all the displayed requirements, then make sure Confirm Password matches it exactly. Check that your password manager has not filled an old password into one of the fields.

If the button becomes available but the site rejects the password, follow the displayed validation message and choose another password. The form must report success before you treat the password as changed.

The page fails after you submit

Note the exact message and the time. If you are unsure whether the reset completed, return to the site's normal sign-in page and try the new password once. If it does not work, request a fresh reset link instead of repeatedly submitting the same one.

If failures continue, report the steps and error using Getting help and reporting a problem. Remove the reset link and any token from the details you share.

If you lost another sign-in method

Authenticator app or two-factor device

If you saved recovery codes when setting up two-factor authentication:

  1. Sign in using an existing account method until the two-factor prompt appears.
  2. Choose Use a recovery code.
  3. Enter an unused recovery code from your saved set and choose Verify.
  4. After signing in, review your security settings and restore an authenticator you control before you remove any remaining working method.

A recovery code is different from your password, an emailed reset link, and a signup access code. Use it only in the recovery-code field on the correct site.

If you have neither a working authenticator nor an unused recovery code, contact the site owner or support to ask what recovery options are available. Do not assume that changing your password, using an email sign-in link, or choosing another provider will bypass the two-factor requirement.

Google or Apple account

If the failure occurs while signing in to Google or Apple, use that provider's recovery process: Google Account recovery help or Apple Account password recovery help.

After recovering that account, return to the Cedros-powered site and choose the same provider account you used before. Alternatively, use another method that is already connected to your Cedros account. Resetting a Cedros password does not reset your Google or Apple password.

Passkey or wallet

Try the device, password manager, security key, or wallet that holds the credential associated with this site. For a passkey, follow any device or browser options offered to use that existing credential.

If it is unavailable, use another sign-in method already connected to the account. Creating a new passkey account or connecting an unrelated wallet does not recover the old account's permissions or purchases. Never send a wallet recovery phrase or private key to support.

Email inbox

Try another method already linked to your account, if available. Otherwise, use your email provider's account recovery process; for a managed work mailbox, contact your organization's administrator.

If you cannot recover the mailbox or use another linked method, ask the site owner or support about the next steps. Explain that you cannot receive messages at the account address, and provide a working reply address. Recovery depends on the site's available process and its ability to verify ownership.

If you are locked out of a site's admin

First confirm that you are opening the intended site's admin and using the account that was granted access. Signing in successfully as a customer does not make that account an administrator.

Some sites connect admin access to Cedros Login; others use a separate built-in owner login. The customer password-reset flow applies to the connected account and should not be assumed to reset a separate built-in owner password.

If your site uses the built-in owner login and you cannot use it, contact the person or organization that manages the installation. If Cedros manages your site, use Getting help and reporting a problem. Include the site address and explain that the problem is the admin login.

Do not create a replacement site, buy another plan, or share an administrator's password as a workaround. If the problem is a missing role or an invitation sent to the wrong address, ask the owner to check that access directly.

Finish recovery and protect access

Once you can sign in, confirm that the account and intended site are correct. Save the working sign-in details, check that you can access the account email, and review your available security and recovery settings.

If you think someone else accessed the account, say so when contacting support. Review active sessions and linked sign-in methods, and secure the associated mailbox or provider account as well. A password change alone does not resolve every possible account-access problem.

Use Getting help and reporting a problem for a useful report outline. Share the symptom and the step that failed; keep passwords, reset links, authenticator codes, recovery codes, and private keys out of the report.
