Use Grow → Focus → Goals to choose what you want to accomplish today, this week, and this month. Start with a short list of actions, then add outcomes when you need to describe a larger result and the work behind it.
For example, your monthly outcome might be “Launch the new service,” this week's work might be “Finish the launch page,” and today's action might be “Review the booking form.” Choose a manageable next step rather than copying the same large goal into every list.
Choose a planning horizon
The Goals page brings together shared direction and your own Active Work:
- Today: actions you intend to work on now.
- This Week: work you want to complete or move forward during the current week.
- This Month: larger pieces of work you are preparing or progressing this month.
Active Work belongs to your signed-in account. A teammate has their own plan, even when you both use the same site. The shared vision and growth targets above it give the team common direction; only an administrator can edit those shared goals.
If you see Set long-term goals, an administrator can use it to add that shared direction. You can still plan your personal Active Work below while the shared goals are empty.
Focus requires content access. If the section is missing or your controls are read-only, check feature access.
The three personal lists are separate. Adding an item to This Month does not automatically break it into weekly or daily actions. Choose those next steps yourself. Putting an action in Today also does not book calendar time, publish content, or run it for you.
Make a useful plan for today
- Open Grow → Focus and select Goals.
- Read the shared direction and your existing This Week and This Month work.
- Under Active Work → Today, enter one concrete action in Add a task to today….
- Select Add or press Enter. Repeat for the small number of actions you can reasonably work on today.
- Check the autosave indicator in the Focus header before leaving. Saved just now confirms that your changes were saved.
Write actions that tell you what to do next, such as “Send the revised proposal” or “Check the checkout on a phone.” Keep research, preparation, and delivery separate when they need different steps.
You can add work directly under This Week and This Month in the same way. Use the To-dos tab to capture work you have not placed into a day, week, or month yet.
To rename an action on the overview, select its title, make the change, and press Enter or click outside the field. Escape cancels that rename. Clearing the title does not delete the action; use its separate delete control when you intend to remove it.
Add an outcome and its supporting work
An outcome describes a result, such as “Publish the October newsletter.” Its to-dos describe the actions needed to reach that result, such as checking the audience, reviewing the links, and sending the approved campaign.
- Select the Today, This Week, or This Month heading in Active Work to open that horizon.
- Enter a result in the outcome field and select Add Outcome.
- Select the new outcome to open its editor. Set Priority, Status, and Confidence, then use Outcome notes to explain what completion should mean.
- Under Todos, enter a New todo and select Add for each supporting action.
- Select Done to close the editor, then Back to Goals to return to the overview and check the save indicator.
Use Primary for the most important outcome, Secondary for the next priority, and Supporting for the rest. Confidence can be High, Medium, or Low; update it when your understanding of the work changes.
Owner is a text label for context. Entering a teammate's name does not transfer the outcome into their personal Focus or send them an assignment.
Use Add check-in note to record a decision, obstacle, or useful update. Link work or source lets you add a reference label and a Target, such as a site path or a complete HTTPS address. A label without a target remains a note-like reference rather than a clickable link.
For a content outcome, link to the relevant item so you can return to its actual publishing workflow. Planning content across channels explains that workspace. Completing a Focus to-do does not change the linked item's publication status.
Edits save automatically as you work. Done closes the outcome editor; it is not a separate save or approval step.
Track progress and blockers
Select an action's checkbox when it is finished. It moves into the completed group for that horizon on the Goals overview. Expand the group to review current completions or clear a checkbox if you marked something done by mistake.
An outcome's status is a separate choice: On Track, At Risk, Blocked, or Complete. Update that status to describe the result itself. Checking every to-do does not automatically mark the outcome Complete, and marking the outcome Complete does not check all its to-dos.
The completion percentage is based on completed to-dos, not your confidence or a measured business result. An outcome can need a final review even when every listed action is checked off. Equally, an outcome without to-dos has no checklist progress to calculate.
When an action cannot move forward, open its outcome and mark that to-do Blocked. Add Todo notes explaining what is needed. On the overview, select the action's Blocked chip to clear the flag once the obstacle is resolved.
In each horizon, Current readout gives you space to summarize the situation across its outcomes. Keep it short and actionable: what changed, what is waiting, and what you intend to do next.
Review unfinished work and the next period
At the end of a day, review the open actions rather than treating every unfinished item as equally urgent. Keep work in Today if it remains the next day's priority, or use Carry unfinished into this week to move the open Today to-dos into This Week.
That action moves unfinished to-dos, including blocked ones; it does not copy them. Completed items stay behind. The moved work appears under Carried forward from Today in the weekly horizon. The original outcome's notes and linked references stay with that outcome, so review any context you still need.
When Focus loads a new calendar period, unfinished to-dos remain active in the same horizon. Completed to-dos from the previous period leave its active list and remain in recent History. Today follows the local day, This Week starts on Monday, and This Month follows the calendar month. These boundaries use your device's local date.
A new period does not reset all outcome titles, statuses, or notes. Review those yourself and replace outdated plans with what matters now.
If today's plan is still right without edits, open Today and select Mark today planned when available. For the weekly plan, open This Week and use Mark week reviewed. These actions acknowledge an existing plan; they do not complete its work. Editing the daily or weekly plan can record that acknowledgement automatically, so you may already see Planned today or Reviewed this week.
Use History from the Focus header to review recent completed work. The Reflect tab is available for recording what went well and what to build on next.
Check saves and resolve problems
Changes are still saving. Return to the Goals overview and watch the Focus header. Wait for Saved just now before closing the page. Seeing a change in a list does not by itself confirm that it has reached your saved plan.
A save fails. Read the error and use Retry save. Keep the page open and preserve any important unsaved notes before reloading.
Focus changed elsewhere. Separate edits may merge automatically. If the same fields changed in another tab or session, saving pauses and asks which version to keep. Use latest replaces your current draft with the latest version that was loaded, discarding your local unsaved changes. Keep mine keeps your current version and tries to save it against the latest state. Review your changes before choosing either action.
Your plan will not load. Select Retry personal Focus. A separate Retry site goals message concerns the shared direction, not your personal list. Resolve the load error before assuming a plan is empty.
You cannot add another outcome. The default is three active outcomes per horizon. Complete an outcome that is genuinely finished, or review Settings → Max active outcomes if you need a different limit. Quick-added to-dos do not use these outcome slots.
Completed work seems to have disappeared. Check the completed group on the overview and History. In an outcome editor, completed to-dos can also be hidden by your display settings. Review the period and saved state before recreating the work.
