Customizing your planning cadence

Choose a review cadence, limit active outcomes, set an owner default, and control completed-work visibility and Focus context.

Use Grow → Focus → Settings to choose how often you review your plan and how much work you keep active. You can also set a default owner, simplify outcome details, and choose whether your Focus is available as assistant planning context.

These settings apply to your personal Focus on the current site. A useful starting point is the default: a weekly review and up to three active outcomes in each planning period. Adjust those choices as you learn what you can comfortably follow through on.

Choose your review cadence

  1. Open Grow → Focus and select Settings in the header. From Reflect, you can also use Focus settings.
  2. Under Planning Rules, open Check-in cadence.
  3. Choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
  4. Select Back to Goals and check for Saved just now before leaving.

Choose Daily when you want a short review of a fast-changing plan. Weekly gives you room to assess progress across several days. Monthly suits a broader review of work that develops over a longer period. You can still use Today, This Week, and This Month with any cadence.

Your choice changes the planning review's title and reporting period. Daily uses the current day, Weekly starts on Monday, and Monthly starts on the first of the month. The review counts completed to-dos across your Focus lists during that period. Its open and blocked counts come from the corresponding Today, This Week, or This Month plan.

When a review is due and there is relevant work, the recommendation offers Start review. Changing cadence does not necessarily make a recommendation appear immediately: a review you already recorded may cover the new period. This setting does not schedule an email or let you choose a reminder time.

Changing cadence preserves your plans, completed work, and previous reviews. Daily reflections remain available regardless of your review cadence. For the review steps and saved history, see Recording daily reflections and weekly reviews.

Set a manageable outcome limit

Max active outcomes accepts a whole number from 1 to 9. The default is 3. The limit applies separately to each planning period, so three active outcomes in Today do not use up the slots in This Week.

An outcome is a result you want to achieve, such as “Send the revised proposal.” Its to-dos are the actions that help you get there. Keep the outcome limit small enough that you can recognize your priorities at a glance.

Outcomes marked On track, At risk, or Blocked count toward the limit. An outcome marked Complete does not. Completing every to-do does not automatically change the outcome's status; mark the outcome Complete when the result itself is achieved.

Lowering the limit preserves existing outcomes. If you already have four active outcomes and change the limit to two, all four remain available to edit. You can add another once the active count falls below two, or you can raise the limit again.

Quick-added actions do not consume these outcome slots. The setting limits active outcomes, rather than the number of to-dos you can capture. See Planning your day, week, and month with Focus for creating outcomes and their next actions.

Choose a default owner

Enter a name or label in Default owner if you want it filled in for new outcomes and to-dos. Leave it blank if you prefer to add an owner only where it helps.

The default applies when you create new work. Changing it does not replace the owner on existing outcomes or to-dos. You can edit an individual outcome's owner without changing the default.

Owner is a planning label. Entering someone's name does not assign work to their account, notify them, or give them access to your personal plan. For example, “Alex” can remind you who is involved in a result while you keep responsibility for tracking your own next action.

Simplify completed work in outcome details

Under Assistant Context, use Show completed todos in horizon details to choose whether completed to-dos appear when you open an outcome's details. It is enabled by default.

Turn it off if you want those details to concentrate on unfinished actions. Turn it back on when seeing completed steps helps you understand progress.

This changes the display in outcome details only. Completed groups on the Goals overview and To-dos tab remain available. It does not delete work, reopen a to-do, or change completion counts. Use History to find older completed work; this checkbox does not bring archived entries back into the outcome editor.

Choose whether to share Focus as planning context

Let Cedros agents use active goals as planning context is enabled by default. It makes your Focus available as Active Focus where assistant planning context is supported.

That context can include your goals, key relationships, and recent reflection entries. Consider the whole plan when deciding whether you want it used to inform assistant work.

Turn the setting off to exclude this Focus context from future use. Your saved Focus stays intact. Turning it off does not erase information already included in an earlier conversation, and turning it on does not start an assistant request or complete any work for you.

Save changes and resolve problems

Settings save automatically as you change them; there is no separate Save button. Select Back to Goals to check the save indicator. You can return to Settings and adjust any choice again.

You cannot add an outcome. Check the active-outcome count for that period. Mark a finished outcome Complete or increase Max active outcomes. Checking its to-dos alone does not free the outcome slot.

Completed to-dos are still visible. The visibility setting applies to outcome details. It does not hide completed groups everywhere in Focus.

There is no review recommendation. You may already have reviewed the current period, or there may be no relevant work to review. You can open /admin/grow/focus/review on your site while signed in to record a review directly.

A change will not save. Keep the page open and use Retry save on Goals. For a loading error, use Retry personal Focus. Resolve the error before treating an empty or unchanged screen as your saved plan.

Focus changed in another tab. Review the conflict before choosing Use latest or Keep mine. Use latest replaces your current draft and discards local unsaved changes. Keep mine retains your current version and tries to save it.

The settings are read-only. Editing personal Focus requires content access. See feature access.
