Use Grow → Focus → Goals to plan your contribution to the site's shared direction. Read the Five-year vision and the Month, Quarter, and Year growth targets, then choose the outcomes and actions you can move forward in your own Active Work.
For example, a shared target might be 100 new users. Your contribution could be “Improve the getting-started guide,” supported by actions to review common questions, update the page, and check the published result. The target describes the business result; your personal plan describes the work you intend to do toward it.
Understand what is shared
The five-year vision and growth targets are shared across the site. An administrator sets and edits them so the team has a common direction to plan against.
Active Work belongs to your signed-in account on that site. Your Today, This Week, and This Month lists contain your own outcomes and to-dos. A teammate has their own plan, even when you both read the same shared targets.
Adding a personal outcome does not assign it to everyone or create a formal link to a shared target. Explain the connection in Outcome notes, and add references that help you do the work. If someone else needs to take an action, agree that with them through your usual team workflow.
The Owner field is a text label for context. Entering a teammate's name does not transfer the outcome to their Focus or notify them of an assignment.
You can use personal Active Work while shared goals are empty. If you need access to Focus or permission to edit shared direction, see feature access.
Set or review the shared direction
On Goals, read the vision and targets before choosing new work. Use Show more if a longer vision is shortened on screen. If the direction is unclear or out of date, ask an administrator to review it.
Administrators can set up the shared direction as follows:
- Open Grow → Focus → Goals and select Set long-term goals if no direction has been set.
- In Long-term goals, write a concise Five-year vision describing the result the business is working toward.
- Under Growth targets, work through Year, Quarter, and Month. Choose User Growth or Revenue Growth for each target you need.
- Enter an amount, such as “100 users” or “5000” for revenue in your store's currency. Leave an amount blank if that horizon is not useful yet.
- Select Done to return to Goals and review the shared direction alongside your personal work.
To change existing direction, open the vision's or a growth card's actions menu and select Edit long-term goals. If just one part is missing, an administrator may instead see Set the vision or Set growth targets.
Edits save automatically as you work; Done closes the editor. Allow autosave to finish before leaving. To confirm a shared change persisted, reopen Focus and check the vision and targets. If an error appears, preserve the text you entered and use Retry site goals.
Set each target deliberately. Entering a yearly amount does not calculate the quarter or month for you. Use an absolute count or amount, rather than a percentage increase, and check that the live metric matches what you intend to measure.
Changes here affect the direction everyone on the site reads. Coordinate changes with other administrators and review your own plan afterward; updating a shared target does not rewrite anyone's personal outcomes.
Choose your personal contribution
Choose a result you can influence, then explain why it matters to the shared direction. For the user-growth example, your outcome notes might say: “Support the monthly signup target by answering the questions that stop new users from finishing setup.”
Under Active Work, select Today, This Week, or This Month to open a planning horizon. Add an outcome, open it, and use Outcome notes to capture that connection and what finishing the work should mean.
Add the supporting to-dos under the outcome. Keep each one actionable: “Review the last ten setup questions,” “Revise the first-run instructions,” and “Check the published guide on a phone.” Choose a priority and update the outcome's status as work progresses.
The daily, weekly, and monthly lists are separate. Break a larger outcome into useful next steps yourself. Planning your day, week, and month with Focus covers those controls in detail.
Use Add check-in note and its Add button to record a useful development, decision, or blocker. These notes stay with your personal outcome; they do not become a shared announcement.
Keep useful references with the outcome
Add links to the page, campaign, brief, or other source you need to return to:
- Open the personal outcome in its planning horizon.
- In Link work or source, enter a clear label, such as “Getting-started guide.”
- In Target, paste the relevant site path beginning with
/or a completehttps://address. - Select the Add button beside those fields. Check that the new reference appears under the outcome.
- Select Done, then Back to Goals, and wait for Saved just now before leaving your personal plan.
The label is required. Target is optional: leave it empty for a text-only reference, or provide an address when you want a clickable link. Open the saved reference to check that it leads to the intended work.
A link gives you a way back to its destination. It does not copy the destination's content into Focus, grant access, track its status automatically, or publish it. Keep editing and approving that work in its own workspace. For a content project, see Planning content across channels.
Use the reference's remove control if it is no longer relevant. Removing it from Focus leaves the destination itself intact. To replace a reference, add and check the new one before removing the old one.
Read progress in context
Personal checklist progress and shared growth progress answer different questions. Checking off your to-dos records work completed. It does not add users or revenue to the shared growth cards, and it does not automatically mark the outcome's separate status Complete.
Shared growth cards use available Cedros Login or Cedros Pay data. Read the source label with the number:
- User Growth: users created in the last 30 days for Month, 90 days for Quarter, or 365 days for Year.
- Revenue Growth: the selected revenue metric from Cedros Pay, using the last 30 days for Month, last 90 days for Quarter, or year to date for Year.
- Recurring revenue: a target mentioning MRR or ARR can use the corresponding subscription metric when available. Check the metric actually named beneath the card; the available data may result in a different revenue measure.
Month and Quarter figures therefore use rolling windows rather than necessarily starting on the first day of the calendar period. Revenue follows the store's reported currency; typing another currency symbol in a target does not convert the underlying figures.
Target met means the reported metric has reached the entered amount. It does not mean every personal action is complete, or establish which person's work caused the result.
If live progress is unavailable, read the reason shown on the card. Missing access, an unavailable source, or an incompatible metric is not evidence of zero growth. You can continue planning while the source issue is resolved.
Keep direction and work aligned
When you review your week, compare the shared direction with your personal outcomes. Keep work that still contributes, revise the next step when circumstances change, and remove commitments you have deliberately dropped.
Shared goals will not load or save. Use Retry site goals. If personal work has a separate error, use Retry personal Focus or Retry save for that problem. The personal save indicator does not confirm that an edit to shared direction was saved.
Someone changed a target. Confirm the intended direction with the administrator, then update your own outcome notes and priorities. Personal plans do not update automatically with it.
A reference will not open. Check its address and your access to the destination. Adding it to Focus does not change the destination's permissions.
Your personal save has a conflict. Review the competing changes before choosing Use latest or Keep mine. Use latest replaces your local draft and discards unsaved changes. Preserve anything you need before making that choice.
