A booking type is one offering people can schedule with you, such as a 30-minute intro call, an in-person consultation, or a paid session. Each type has its own public link, meeting details, booking rules, and optional payment policy.
Start with a saved scheduling profile and permission to manage scheduling. If the profile is not ready, follow Setting up your public booking page first. Booking types use explicit Create booking type and Save booking type buttons; edits do not save automatically.
Create a booking type
- Open Calendar → My calendar, choose Configure, and open Booking types.
- Select New booking type.
- Enter a clear Title, such as “Intro call,” and review the URL slug. The title is public; the slug becomes the last part of the booking link.
- Choose Duration and Meeting type, then complete any location or address fields shown.
- Add a Description explaining what the meeting covers and what invitees should prepare.
- Expand Advanced options and review the booking window, limits, calendar conflicts, invitee controls, and any payment settings you need.
- Select Create booking type and wait for the success result. Confirm that the new offering appears in Booking types, then check its public link before sharing it.
The duration choices are 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, and 90 minutes. New types default to 30 minutes, so review the selection even for a simple introductory meeting.
The URL slug is generated from the title unless a different custom slug is in use. It uses lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, and must be different from your other booking-type slugs. Check it before saving: changing it later changes the public link.
For example, the profile handle jane and type slug intro-call create /calendar/jane/intro-call. Copy the actual link from the saved row instead of constructing one from memory.
Choose how the meeting happens
Meeting type controls the location information and, for some choices, the details invitees must provide. New types can default to Google Meet — automatic link; do not leave that selected unless it matches your setup.
Google Meet — automatic link
Connect Google Calendar and enable sync under Integrations before accepting these bookings. Cedros uses the connection to create a meeting link for each booking and include it in the confirmation.
Saving a Google Meet type is not a connection test. Check the integration status and resolve provider errors before relying on automatic meeting links. An unavailable connection can block booking or prevent meeting-link delivery.
Phone call
Invitees must provide a callback number. The host calls that number at the scheduled time; it is included with the booking details and confirmation information. This choice does not place the call for you.
In person
Enter the Meeting address, including any room or arrival details invitees need. An address is required for this meeting type. Check the address on the public page before sharing the link.
Custom link or location
Use Location for a meeting link or another location you arrange yourself. This choice does not automatically create a new conferencing room for every booking. Use the description to explain any joining instructions that are not obvious from the location.
Set the booking window
Under Advanced options → Booking window, set Minimum notice as an amount and unit: minutes, hours, or days. This determines how close to the start time a new booking can be made. For example, two days of notice prevents someone from booking a meeting that starts tomorrow.
Set Future window to the number of days ahead invitees can book. The editor supports 1–365 days, and minimum notice up to 30 days. New types start with one hour of notice and a 60-day future window.
Read the summary beneath the controls. If minimum notice falls beyond the future window, no dates will be bookable. These settings narrow the times available; they do not create weekly working hours.
Review Availability in booking-page setup as well. A new type uses the current setup hours, while an existing type can retain its own saved hours. Do not assume changing the shared weekly-hours panel updates every offering. Check the public slots for the exact type you are creating or editing.
Set limits and calendar conflicts
Under Limits, Stop accepting bookings after sets a cutoff for new bookings. Leave it blank if you do not want a cutoff. Total bookings limit sets a cap for this type; leave it blank for no cap, or enter a whole number of at least one.
The total limit is not a per-day limit. Confirmed bookings count toward it, including bookings later marked attended or no-show. Cancelled bookings do not count, so a cancellation can free capacity. Reaching the limit or passing the cutoff stops new bookings; it does not cancel existing ones.
Calendar conflicts has two choices:
- Respect my other booking types groups this offering with your other shared types so their bookings block overlapping times.
- Use a separate calendar tracks this offering independently and can allow it to overlap your other types. Choose this only when simultaneous meetings are intended.
A separate calendar does not ignore every availability constraint. Time-off blocks, booking rules, and Google busy time can still remove slots. Review the actual public availability after changing this option.
Choose what invitees can provide and change
Under Invitee experience, Required question lets you add a prompt such as “What would you like to discuss?” Leaving it blank skips that extra prompt. If you enter a question, invitees must answer it when booking. Phone-call bookings also require their callback number.
Review these switches:
- Let invitees cancel their booking allows self-service cancellation. Turning it off means cancellations need to be handled by the host or team.
- Let invitees reschedule allows invitees to move their booking through the public management flow.
- Require a cancellation reason asks for context when an invitee cancels. It does not enable cancellation if self-service cancellation is off.
- List this booking page on search engines opts the page into indexing and the site's sitemap. It is off by default.
Leaving search indexing off does not make the page private or require invitees to sign in. Treat the public link as shareable and use a description and question suitable for customers. Enabling indexing allows discovery; it does not guarantee that a search engine will list the page.
Add payment when needed
The Cedros Pay section appears when the extension is active, or when the type already has a saved payment policy. Before sharing a paid offering, make sure the site's Pay checkout and the price you intend to charge are ready.
- Turn on Collect payment before booking.
- Under When payment is collected, choose Full payment before booking or Deposit before booking.
- Review Product mapping. Select the intended catalog product, use a known custom product ID, or choose Default checkout if the site's Pay setup supports that path for this booking type.
- Enter Refund policy text if needed, and check the product or checkout amount separately in Pay.
- Save the booking type and verify its customer checkout path as a deliberate test before depending on it for paid bookings.
The timing choice does not set a price. In particular, selecting Deposit before booking does not calculate a deposit percentage or automatically collect a remaining balance. Configure the amount and any later collection process separately. Refund-policy text does not itself issue refunds.
Product mapping also offers Create a new product…. Completing that dialog creates a Pay catalog product immediately and selects it for the type. You still need to save the booking type; cancelling the booking-type editor does not undo the separate product creation.
If you see a saved After approval setting, it requires a separate approval workflow. The normal public checkout path does not complete that workflow for you.
If Pay becomes inactive, an existing payment requirement remains saved. Its timing and mapping controls are unavailable until Pay is active again; the requirement can be cleared deliberately if you intend to make the type free. Do not assume disabling the extension converts paid bookings into free ones.
For confirmation-message setup, see Setting up outgoing email delivery. A successful type save does not verify payment processing or email delivery.
Verify the saved offering
- In Booking types, find the new row and use Copy booking link for that exact offering.
- Open the link in a private browser window. Check the host, title, description, duration, and meeting information.
- Inspect dates and available times, checking the timezone, weekly hours, notice period, future window, and any limits you set.
- Stop before selecting a time if you only want a read-only check. Reopen the editor to confirm the saved policies, then correct and save anything unexpected.
Selecting a time creates a temporary reservation and opens the invitee form. Submitting it can create a real booking or start checkout. Use a deliberate test booking when you need to verify required answers, payment, confirmation emails, or external calendar delivery.
You are ready to share when the saved details are correct, the intended slots are available, the meeting method is configured, and any required checkout has been verified. Copy links again after changing either the profile handle or the type's slug.
Edit an existing booking type
- Open Booking types and use the Edit action on the intended row.
- Change the fields you need, checking Advanced options as well as the main meeting details.
- Select Save booking type and wait for the success result.
- Reopen the saved type and check its public link and availability again.
Use Cancel or Back to booking types to leave without saving the type's edits. There is no automatic save for this form, so do not leave expecting unfinished changes to persist.
Changing a type is not the way to move an existing meeting. Manage that booking from My calendar → Bookings. Existing bookings retain their scheduled times, and changes to the type's meeting method do not move already-created meetings to a new location.
If you only want to stop taking new bookings, use the cutoff or limit rather than treating deletion as a pause. The delete confirmation warns that existing bookings and private links will also be removed.
Fix common problems
The fields or save button are disabled. Wait for loading or saving to finish, check that the scheduling profile exists, and ask an administrator to check your permissions if needed. See Understanding roles and permissions.
Another type already uses the slug. Choose a different URL slug, or open the existing offering if that is the one you meant to edit. Do not create a second type just to recover from an uncertain save result.
The save fails. Read the displayed error. Check the in-person address, cutoff date, total limit, and other entered values. If the connection was interrupted, inspect Booking types before retrying so you do not accidentally create a duplicate or another Pay product.
No dates or times are available. Check weekly hours, timezone, minimum notice versus future window, cutoff, total cap, time-off blocks, and calendar conflicts. A valid public link can still have no eligible slots.
Google Meet is not ready. Confirm that Google Calendar is connected with sync enabled. Saving the offering does not create a working provider connection.
The payment section is missing or disabled. Check whether Cedros Pay is active. If an old payment requirement is still shown, resolve the extension setup or intentionally clear the requirement; do not assume the offering is free.
A newly added question does not appear during a basic preview. The invitee form opens after a time is selected and reserved. Verify it during a deliberate booking-flow test, not by assuming the initial date picker displays every field.
