Setting up your business information

Update your site's name, description, public contact details, hours, and locations, then check what visitors see.

Keep the name, description, and contact details behind your website accurate. This guide covers the information in Settings → Site, how it reaches the public site, and how to check a saved change.

You need access to your site's admin and permission to edit site settings. These are shared settings for the site. Use contact information you want customers to see.

Open your business settings

  1. Open your site's admin.
  2. In the sidebar, choose Settings → Site.
  3. Stay on the Site tab. You will see Your brand, Site title and description, How customers reach you, and Advanced.

If you need help locating the screen, follow Finding your way around Cedros.

Changes save automatically. After editing text, click outside the editable fields and allow the save to finish. There is no separate Publish step for these settings, so use final, public-ready information rather than placeholder text.

A Draft backed up message means a recoverable draft exists; it does not confirm that your public settings have updated. Check for errors near the page heading and verify the result on your website before considering the change complete.

Set your site name and description

Under Site title and description, update these two fields.

Site title: enter the name customers recognize, such as “Cedar Coffee.” It identifies your site wherever the theme displays its name and in the site share preview.

Site description: write a short, specific summary of what you offer and whom you serve. It supplies the homepage's description when there is no custom SEO description, and appears in the site share preview.

For example, “Small-batch coffee roasted in Portland, with local pickup and nationwide delivery” tells a visitor more than “Welcome to our website.” Use your actual services and location; do not add claims you cannot support.

The preview beneath the fields helps you review the name and summary together. Click outside the fields when you finish.

The site description does not replace the text on your homepage or About page. To change visible page copy, open that page under Site → Pages. Other pages have their own SEO descriptions, and a custom homepage SEO description takes precedence over this default.

Review the matching brand

Your brand contains the logo and Brand color. The logo tile lets you add or replace the logo; Match my logo offers a color based on it. The Change image control beneath the site preview manages the share image.

Review these when renaming or rebranding your business. A custom share image can still contain an old name even after you update Site title. For the website's broader visual design, use Settings → Appearance.

Add public contact details

Under How customers reach you:

  1. Enter the Email address customers should use, such as hello@example.com. Use an address you actually monitor.
  2. Enter Phone, including its country and area code.
  3. Expand Hours to enter the times customers can reach or visit you.
  4. Expand Business address if you want to publish a physical address.
  5. Click outside the editable fields and check for any save error.

These values supply the default contact information on the public Contact page. Entering an email here does not create a mailbox, connect an email provider, or configure where contact-form submissions are delivered. Those are separate setup tasks.

A Contact page with its own authored details can show those instead of these defaults. If you have customized that page, check both the settings and the published page.

Set your hours

Expand Hours, then turn on each day your business is open. Set the start and end times for that day. Use + Add range for a split day, such as 09:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00, and Remove time range to remove an unwanted period.

Leave closed days off; the editor labels them Unavailable. If no hours are entered, there is no hours information to show.

If Cedros displays Current hours followed by an older text description, editing a day replaces that older format. Enter the full weekly schedule so you retain every opening period you intend to publish.

These are your public business hours. Configure appointment availability separately in the booking or calendar tool you use.

Add the primary address

Expand Business address and fill in Street address, City, State / region, Postal code, and Country as appropriate for your location.

Only enter an address you intend to make public. An online business that does not receive visitors can leave it blank. This information can appear on the Contact page and in business information supplied to search engines; it is not an internal-only address book.

Add another office or branch

Use Additional locations for public locations beyond the primary address.

  1. Expand Additional locations and choose Add location.
  2. Enter a recognizable Location name, such as “Cedar Coffee — Downtown.”
  3. Complete its physical address. A location needs a name, street address, city, and country before it can appear publicly.
  4. Add the branch's email, phone, and hours where applicable.
  5. Optionally add a Location page URL pointing to an existing page, such as /locations/downtown, or a full public web address.
  6. Click outside the editable fields, then verify the location on the public Contact page.

A location URL links to a page; it does not create that page. If the section reports an incomplete location, finish the required fields before expecting to see it publicly.

Review the business defaults in Advanced

Expand Advanced when the site's purpose or regional defaults need updating.

SettingWhat it changes
Site typeTailors admin defaults, recommendations, the site tour, and business search markup. Choose the closest match to what your site does.
Business localeSets regional date, time, and number formatting. Public site languages are configured separately on the Languages tab.
Primary site goalSets the outcome that Dashboard Insights and recommendations prioritize. Choose the outcome that matters most to this site.

Site type can also reset the business classification used in search markup. If you previously customized that classification under SEO, review it after changing Site type.

Primary site goal saves when selected. If its helper text says the goal may not have saved, refresh to verify the stored choice before choosing again. Changing the goal changes what Cedros prioritizes in its reporting; it does not itself create sales, bookings, or other outcomes.

Check the result as a visitor

After a change, allow autosave to finish and check that no error is displayed.

  1. Reopen Settings → Site and confirm the expected values are present. If a recovered-draft notice appears, resolve it before treating the fields as proof of a completed save.
  2. Open the public website in a separate tab and refresh it.
  3. Check the displayed site name wherever your theme uses it, and open your Contact page to review email, phone, hours, addresses, and any additional locations.
  4. Check the email and phone links point to the intended destinations. Check branch links open the correct published pages.
  5. Review any manually written contact details in page text, the footer, or images. Update those separately if they still show old information.

You are done when: the settings retain your intended values and visitors see the correct information in the places that use them.

Fix common problems

The fields are disabled or Site is missing

Confirm you are in the intended site's admin with the correct account. Ask the site owner or administrator for permission to edit site settings. Access to page editing does not necessarily include access to site-wide settings.

A change stays in draft or shows an error

Click outside the text fields to let autosave run, then read the message near the page heading. Correct any invalid value and try again. If the problem continues, keep a copy of your intended text and contact Cedros with the site address and exact error. A draft backup alone is not proof that the live site changed.

The Contact page still shows the old information

Refresh the public page and recheck the saved settings. Then open the Contact page under Site → Pages and look for its own contact details or manually written text. Update and publish that page if it overrides the defaults. Check footer text and images separately too.

The description changed in settings but not elsewhere

Visible page copy is edited in the page itself. For the homepage's search description, check whether it has a custom SEO description. For another page, edit that page's SEO settings. A preview cached by a search engine or messaging app may not update immediately after your site changes.

An additional location is missing

Confirm its name, street address, city, and country are filled in. Then check whether the Contact page uses the site defaults or its own details. An incomplete location is not shown publicly.
