Use Grow → Focus → Relationships to choose the people you want to make progress with and write down the result you are working toward. Keep near-term commitments under Short-term results for This week, and broader outcomes under Long-term results for This quarter.
For example, your quarterly outcome with a customer might be “Agree the renewal scope.” This week's outcome with the same person could be “Confirm the three requirements for the renewal proposal.”
Choose a person and an outcome
- Open Grow → Focus and select Relationships.
- Under Short-term results, use Add a person for this week to search by name or email.
- Select the correct person from the results, checking their identifying details before adding them.
- In their Outcome to drive field, write the result you want to achieve with them this week.
- Wait for Saved just now in the Focus header before leaving the page.
Use Add a person for this quarter under Long-term results in the same way for a longer-term outcome. You can use the arrow keys to highlight a search result and Enter to select it; Escape closes the results.
The same person can appear in both columns, with a different outcome in each. Within one column, a person appears only once. Adding them to the quarterly list does not copy or move their weekly outcome.
Your relationship outcomes belong to your signed-in account on this site. Adding someone does not notify them, send a message, or assign work to them. It gives you a personal plan for the relationship.
Add someone who is not in People yet
Search first so you can reuse an existing record. If the person is missing and you have permission to create CRM records, you can add them without leaving Relationships:
- In the appropriate weekly or quarterly column, select Create a new person.
- Review any details filled from your search and enter the person's name and identifying contact information.
- Supply at least an Email, Phone, or known Tracking system ID. A name alone is not enough to save a person.
- Review any Possible existing match. Select Add here when it is the same person; otherwise confirm it is a different person before continuing.
- Select Save person. Once the person appears in the column, enter their Outcome to drive and check the Focus save indicator.
Save person saves to the site's CRM and adds the returned person to your Focus list. The CRM may match an existing identity instead of creating a separate record. This is a shared contact record, even though the relationship outcome you write in Focus is personal.
Possible matches shown in the form are not an exhaustive duplicate check. Search by the person's email before creating another record, especially when several people have similar names. Adding and updating a contact explains the full People workflow.
Select Cancel if you decide not to save the person. If saving fails, the form keeps your details so you can correct them or try again. If the CRM save succeeded but the Focus save later failed, search for that person again rather than assuming the contact was never created.
Write a useful relationship goal
Describe an observable result rather than a vague intention. “Agree a delivery date with the supplier” gives you something to work toward; “Stay in touch” leaves the next step unclear.
Use the quarterly column for a result that needs sustained work, such as agreeing a partnership or preparing a customer renewal. Use the weekly column for the next result that would move it forward, such as confirming requirements or reviewing a proposal together.
Each person has one outcome field per column. You can revise that text as the relationship develops. The two columns are independent: changing the quarterly outcome does not update the weekly one.
If you need an action checklist, add the supporting work to Goals → Active Work. For example, an outcome of “Agree the renewal scope” might need to-dos for reviewing the account, drafting options, and arranging a conversation. Planning your day, week, and month with Focus explains how to build that plan. Relationship entries do not automatically create those actions.
Open the person's CRM record
Select Open on a relationship entry to go to that person's record in People. Use it to review their details and history before a conversation, or to update shared contact information when you have permission.
When CRM lookup succeeds, Relationships shows the person's current name and lifecycle label, such as a customer stage. That label describes the CRM record; it is not a completion status for your relationship outcome.
Keep the distinction in mind when editing. Outcome to drive changes your personal Focus plan. Editing a person after selecting Open changes the CRM record available to others with access. Writing a relationship outcome does not change the person's lifecycle stage.
If a lookup fails, the saved name may still appear with a warning that names and lifecycle information could be out of date. Use Retry CRM lookup. A failed lookup does not by itself mean the person was deleted, so check the warning before replacing the entry.
Review the week and refresh your list
At the start of the week, review the people and outcomes in Short-term results. Update what changed, keep what still matters, and remove commitments you have deliberately finished or dropped.
If an existing weekly plan is still right, select Mark this week reviewed when it is available. You need at least one person with a nonempty weekly outcome before you can mark the review. Editing a weekly list that contains an outcome can record the review automatically, so you may already see This week's relationship focus is reviewed.
The review acknowledges your plan; it does not mark the relationship outcomes complete. Editing only the quarterly list does not acknowledge the weekly review. A new week starts on Monday according to your device's local date.
The lists remain in place when the week or quarter changes. Review and revise them yourself; the quarter's outcomes do not automatically move into the weekly column.
There is no completion checkbox for a relationship outcome. When the result is achieved, replace it with the next useful outcome or select Remove if you no longer need that entry. Remove immediately takes the entry and its outcome out of that column. It leaves the person's CRM record and their entry in the other column intact.
There is no Undo control for this removal. Preserve any outcome text you still need first. You can add the person again, but the new entry starts with an empty outcome.
Resolve access and saving problems
You cannot add or open people. CRM read access is required for search and Open. Creating a new person also requires CRM write access. Without CRM read access, saved relationship outcomes remain editable if you still have content access. See feature access for help with permissions.
Search shows no matching people. Try a more specific name or email and check whether the person is already in that column. Search shows a limited set of matches and excludes anonymous visitor records. It searches people, so use the individual contact rather than a company name when planning a relationship.
Focus changes will not save. Keep the page open, preserve important outcome text, and use Retry save. If the personal plan will not load, use Retry personal Focus before treating it as empty.
The same outcome changed elsewhere. Review the conflict before choosing Use latest or Keep mine. Use latest replaces your current draft and discards local unsaved changes. Keep mine retains your current version and tries to save it. Avoid competing edits in multiple tabs while resolving the conflict.
